The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a US law that was passed in 1998. It makes it illegal to reproduce or use content that you do not own or have the appropriate licenses, specifically but not limited to use online. More importantly: the DMCA addresses the rights and obligations of Internet Service Providers and Platforms/Networks the infringing material is found.
