Suno
Suno is the best-known AI song generator. It makes full songs with vocals from a text prompt. Since September 2026 it runs licensed v6 models (partners include Warner, BMG and Believe). Downloads and commercial rights now need a paid plan and come with monthly download caps.
TL;DR
Creators who want custom songs with vocals for intros, outros and videos, and who will pay and track their downloads. Where you can use it: Twitch unconfirmed, YouTube safe with steps, TikTok safe with steps, Instagram safe with steps, Kick safe with steps. No credit needed.
Where is Suno safe to use?
Based on Suno's own license terms, checked October 2026. “Copyright-free” on one platform doesn't mean safe everywhere, so we check each one.

Which plan you need
You need Pro ($10/mo, or $8/mo billed yearly; 20 song downloads a month) or Premier ($30/mo, or $24/mo yearly; 60 downloads a month). Free songs can't be downloaded and are personal, non-commercial use only. Since Sept 3, 2026 you may only use songs commercially if you downloaded them through Suno's own download button within your monthly limit.
Can you monetize?
Yes on Pro/Premier, but only for songs made while subscribed AND downloaded through Suno within your download limit. You keep commercial rights to those downloads after you cancel. Free-plan songs can never be monetized, even if you upgrade later.
Content ID, claims, and VOD mutes
Suno does not say it registers outputs with Content ID. Its terms warn that rights holders may have a right to collect revenue when Outputs are distributed on third-party platforms. The main risk is distribution: if you (or anyone) send a Suno song through DistroKid etc. with Content ID turned on, videos and VODs using it can be claimed. If you release your own song, whitelist your own channel with your distributor.
Not sure how claims, strikes, and mutes differ? Read our DMCA guide.
Watch out for
- Free plan: no downloads and no commercial use. Upgrading later doesn't fix songs you already made for free.
- Pro gives only 20 downloads a month (Premier 60). Recording or stream-ripping a song instead of downloading it breaks the terms.
- Remixes of other people's Suno songs are personal use only on every plan.
- Suno says copyright may not exist in AI output, so you may not be able to stop copycats.
- UMG and Sony are still suing Suno (a second suit, over v6, was filed Sept 18, 2026). Terms have changed twice in 2026 and could change again.
AI music: what to know
- Who owns what you make
- Pro/Premier: Suno assigns you its rights in songs you make while subscribed, but says copyright may not exist in AI output. Free: Suno keeps ownership and you may only use songs for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- What you need for monetized content
- Pro or Premier when the song is made, plus downloading it through Suno's own download channel within your monthly download limit (terms effective Sept 3, 2026).
- Claim risk
- Medium. Suno itself doesn't claim videos, but many users release Suno songs through distributors with Content ID, and Suno adds fingerprints and watermarks to outputs. Only use songs you generated and downloaded yourself, and keep your Suno song link and creation date as proof if you need to dispute a claim.
- Training data & lawsuits
- Warner settled with Suno in Nov 2025 and licensed its music. Suno launched licensed v6 models on Sept 9, 2026 with Warner, BMG and Believe, and is retiring older models. Universal and Sony did not settle: their 2024 lawsuit continues, and they filed a second one on Sept 18, 2026 claiming v6 was trained on outputs of the old models. Suno disputes this.
